Skin Deep is a collection of stories about people and their tattoos. 

The process began with a grid structure, a concept, and a handful of friends to interview and photograph. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to maintain a minimal color layout with ample negative space, an aesthetic that both felt connected to how formal tattooing can be and also acted in contrast to how chaotic and expressive it may appear to some. I also quickly landed on a cover design that required hand-binding the printed book in leather and applying the title in gold leaf. This became a labor of love, challenging and surprising me along the way to ultimately arrive at the result that I envisioned.
